The Goddess Wheel of the Year

This series of paintings follows the 8 pagan festivals of the Celtic Year, which starts at Samhain (November 1st).

This Wheel is different from the wiccan wheel, and it has been created by Kathy Jones - creator of the Glastonbury Goddess Temple in which I trained as a Priestess.

In the four directions, we celebrate the four elements:

Air in the North (Winter Solstice / Yule) , Fire in the East (Spring Equinox / Oestre), Water in the South (Summer Solstice / Litha), and Earth in the West (Autumn Equinox / Mabon).

At the four cross-quarters, we honour the four female archetypes:

The Maiden in the North-East (Imbolc), the Lover in the South-East (Beltane), the Mother in the South-West (Lammas) and the Crone in the North-West (Samhain).

Goddess in the local Lands

Different Goddesses are honoured in different lands, each embodying the values and beliefs of the local people.

Below are my personal representations of two such Goddesses:

Dahud-Ahès, An ancient Breton Goddess whose myth originates in the region of Douarnenez, Brittany, France.

The Lady of Avalon, who is honoured in the land of Glastonbury, UK.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any personal experiences or stories about this archetypal Goddess.

Her worship has been ended by Christianity a very long time ago and I wish to bring back to Pagan practices honouring Her in her land.

I believe She is a powerful archetype for the Celtic woman trying to recover her own soul , her inner fire and otherworldly gifts.
